The Work of Lisbon Illustrator Goncalo Viana

It is interesting how many of us have a first passion, but choose to go a different route instead. My passion was illustration, but I didn't understand how that would make me any money, so I did graphic design. Goncalo Viana had the same passion but pursued architecture at first instead. Both of us have found our way back to our true passion, and I would safely assume we could both say our experiences before illustration were invaluable. You can easily see Goncalo's history in his work. He was born and raised in Lisbon, hence the vivid colors and tile-like patterns. And his architecture background shows through in the construction of each of his illustrations. The compositions are calculated and angular, like they were being drafted up and built. But however he arrived at his unique style, it does nothing but lure you into each piece. There is so much to discover and enjoy, I couldn't help but share a few pieces of his that I truly loved.Check out his shop too!
