Pei-San Ng Matches Series

I have always been a little bit of a pyro, and as a kid I played around quite a bit with matches. I have to say though, I was never as creative with my matches as architect and artists Pei-San Ng is with hers. She created an entire series of typography and images out of matches, experimenting with burning parts or the even lighting the entire thing on fire.

The series came out of a way to celebrate the death of a Chicago Art Department member. The concept was based on the Chinese culture's tradition of burning things to send them off with the recently departed at funerals. This series probably cannot continue though based on the fact the Pei-San Ng's main medium, the Red Tipped Diamond Match, has been discontinued and now only comes in green.
