Block Printed Scarfs for Good
Sometimes you don't really know how special things are until you hear their backstory. When I first saw these scarfs I was immediately impressed by the colors and bold geometric shapes. I could have stopped there, but I dug a little deeper and found that these are each block printed by hand using a process that has been around for some 350 years in India. The company who creates these scarfs is Block Shop. Two sisters, Lily and Hopie Stockman, run their small textile company in Bagru, India. But their passion for bringing a minimalist desert aesthetic to the fashion world isn't the only thing fueling them. When you purchase a scarf from Block Shop you are giving straight back to the Bagru community by providing them with jobs and funds for medical treatments. And if you weren't sold already, all the inks and dyes are made from vegetable and mineral, non-toxic dyes. So it is green too. Isn't mother's day coming up soon?
