Educational Kids Toy Branding
Domino & Juliette
From the very beginning, we were brought on to create the brand identity and entire line of products for the educational kids toy company, Domino & Juliette. Their goal is to make products that encourage purposeful play, are highly engaging, durable and adaptable across age and ability. For us it meant we had to do a lot of listening, and remain flexible to feedback in order to make both the product and brand accessible to their audience. It wasn’t easy, but thanks to a highly collaborative effort, we couldn’t be more proud of what we have helped create in Domino & Juliette.

OUR ROLE:
Placemats and Puzzles
Aside from the branding work we did, we also created their products with the help of the amazing vision and direction of Domino & Juliette’s founder, Cali. We did all of the design and illustration work, based on her very specific plans for each product. And that is why loved working on D&J products! We made everything from durable placemats to wood puzzles.
The direction may not have always made sense to us, but we quickly learned these toys are different than most. They are highly researched aim to not only entertain, but educate kids in the most effective ways possible.
The Domino Font
When we say we designed everything for D&J, we meant everything! As we were developing their branding we looked for a font that would compliment the playful, quirky feel of the logo. After a lot of searching, we finally landed on the idea of just making a fully custom font called Domino.
Yes, it feels at home with the D&J logo, but more importantly, this font solves some very real problems we faced. One, each letter and number is designed to be as legible as possible for kids. And two, these letterforms were going to be made into physical toys that small hands would interact with.
