Acoustic Rooster
PBS Kids
Having grown up watching PBS Kids shows, getting the opportunity to create the main title logo for one of them was an awesome opportunity. Based on a book by Kwame Alexander, “Acoustic Rooster” is a show about a jazz-playing rooster and his barnyard friends who have musical adventures at the BeBop Barnyard. It’s fun, educational and celebrates the spontaneity and vibrance of jazz music.

OUR ROLE:
Design Lettering

Design Exploration
Since the show’s target audience is preschool-age kids, we had a unique problem to solve. Most kids that age can’t read, so the title logo had to rely less on the type and more on images, shapes and symbols to imply the theme of the show. So a lot of our exploration included things like rooster tails/combs, music notes, barns and more.
Alongside that, we were tasked with matching the mid-century jazz inspired style of the animation. Which made playing with the lettering and absolute blast.
