Wood Type Revival

The lost art of wood type was something only to be found in antique stores, by typography junkies or interior designers looking for some nice accent letters for their shelf. So many ornate and personality-filled typefaces have been forgotten, ink still dried on, left only in the memories of old advertisements. That is, until Wood Type Revival launched a Kickstarter campaign to save wood type and make it accessible in the digital age.Back in 2011, Matt Griffin and Matt Braun set out to find ten rare historic wood typefaces to make available digitally. Their Kickstarter campaign made its goal by May 2011 and the collecting began. As of February 1st, they had successfully collected, printed, scanned, and digitized ten typefaces for sale on their site. Not only have they made some amazing forgotten typefaces available for download, but they do it at ridiculously good price, making it easy for anyone to enjoy the type of the past for modern work. Even better, they have made the typefaces available on Typekit for web use.The typefaces range in style from very elegant script fonts to large bold slab serifs and ornamental types. There is a little of everything. I hope they keep up the good work and don't stop at just ten.Image Sources: http: Wood Type Revival
