Space Race Concertina Children's Book

Krystal and I are always big fans of any type of artwork that is both beautiful and serves as a teaching tool. Nobrow Press has been doing amazing things in that realm by starting their Leporello series of concertina books. Though the books are called children's books, they appeal to all ages due to the amazing artwork, and interesting representation of actual facts. The books unfold like an accordion to make for some pretty incredible scenes. The Space Race includes bite-szie facts and tells the history of the Space Race between 1957 and 1975 between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. This particular book in the series is one of my favorites, not just because it is space related, but because the pacing of the book is so enjoyable to look at. The bold color palette feels like an old map brochure that you would get at a gas station in the 60's, or old TWA travel posters. The illustrator, Tom Clohosy Cole, did an amazing job of hearkening back to that time, but making it feel modern and fresh at the same time.Such  an incredible book, by an incredible press. See more of the series, and even pick one up, here.
